Mark Egan is a partner at StrataFusion Group, Inc. and has more than 25 years of information technology experience, with expertise in IT transformation, information security, and mergers & acquisitions. His extensive experience includes managing global IT organizations with over 1,200 employees, budgets in excess of $350 million, and IT integration for over 60 mergers and acquisitions. Mark has been repeatedly recognized for his leadership and success in scaling IT organizations to support rapid growth companies.
Prior to joining StrataFusion, Mark was a CIO at VMware where he led the company from a server virtualization vendor with $2 billion in revenue to a $5 billion market leader of cloud solutions. During his 6 years as CIO at Symantec, Mark's leadership in IT was instrumental in supporting the company's transformation from $600 million consumer software publisher to a $5 billion market leader of enterprise security solutions. He held senior level positions with companies in a variety of industries, including Sun Microsystems, Price Waterhouse, and Wells Fargo Bank.
Mark is author of Executive Guide to Information Security: Threats, Challenges, and Solutions and was a contributing author of CIO Wisdom, CIO Perspectives, and CIO's Body of Knowledge. He is the founder of the CIO Development Program that mentors aspiring CIO's and president of the CISE Education Fund that raises money for underprivileged students to pursue technology degrees.
Mark holds a master's degree in finance and international business from University of San Diego and a bachelor's degree in computer sciences from University of Clarion. Mark developed and taught a graduate class, "Building Business Value through IT Innovation," at the Haas School of Business at University of California at Berkeley.
As CIO for Apttus, Praniti Lakhwara is responsible for Information technology solutions and the company’s internal security program, driving a comprehensive strategy for information technology that will help scale the company rapidly, build a world class IT organization, deliver innovative solutions globally, and create a secure robust infrastructure for our customers.
Praniti has a proven track record of helping to build “best in class” execution focused IT teams that provide business value through process optimization and automation. Prior to Apttus, Praniti was the VP of IT at Nimble Storage where she was responsible for Infrastructure, Applications, Security and Data Platforms. Under Praniti’s leadership, the Nimble IT team repositioned the IT strategy, revitalized their brand within Nimble, established a “Customer 0” program and executed a roadmap that doubled from prior years. Prior to Nimble, Praniti was at Guidewire software as the Sr. Director of Applications and Client Services. She spent 11 years at Align Technology (makers of Invisalign) and had the opportunity to work in multiple teams and roles. Praniti was awarded the Bay Area CIO of the year in 2017 by Silicon Valley Business Journal and San Francisco Business Times.
Praniti holds a B.S. degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Arizona State University.
Shobhana Ahluwalia is Head of Information Technology for Uber. Prior to joining Uber, Shobhana served as Vice President of Information Technology at Rocket Fuel, where she created and scaled a global IT team to support Rocket Fuel’s rapid business growth. Until 2013, Shobhana held various roles at CBS, including the Vice President of Enterprise Resource Planning and IT at CBS, where she led internal technology for all 10 of CBS’s business units including Network, CBS Studios, and Simon & Schuster.
In her current role, Shobhana is responsible for a global organization that provides IT operations and services support for an exploding business. She leads both the strategic and tactical support for Uber worldwide corporate infrastructure components, network and telecommunications, enterprise applications, endpoints and a 24×7 internal service desk.
Shobhana holds an MBA with a double major in Strategy and Finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Additionally, she has a Bachelor of Computer Science in Engineering.
Fun facts: Proudest accomplishment: I trained for and completed a marathon to raise muchneeded funds for Asha for Education, a charity focused on educating underprivileged children in India. Surprising fact about you: I am a closet fan of the 80’s sitcoms "The Golden Girls" and "Full House".
James E. Cates is the President and Founder, LOBI Group, LLC and believes that leadership has basically three dimensions: attitude, aptitude and efficacy. He has developed a framework for applying this approach to any business task. He founded LOBI, which stands for Ladder of Business Intelligence (BI), a consulting services firm where he is developing management-training modules using his techniques.
Jim draws on more than 30 years of executive leadership (CIO / VP) in software development, IT deployment and corporate management in leading companies including Altera, Brocade, Synopsys, Silicon Graphics and IBM. He has served on the Ohio State University Engineering Computer Science and Engineering Advisory Board for over 25 years. He also serves on the Arts and Sciences Advisory Board of the Ohio Northern University.
He holds an MS in Computer and Information Science from the Ohio State University Engineering College. He is a recipient of Ohio State's Distinguished Alumnus Award from the college of Engineering.
Jim believes that all American youth who desire to attend college and have the academic ability and commitment to attend college should be able to go. This is the only way the US will retain its ability to compete at the highest economic level in world. He is excited to help CISE contribute to that goal by serving on the BOD.
Jim has co-authored two books: CIO Wisdom and Climbing the Ladder of Business Intelligence.
- Past Chairman of the Board for the Glow Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps high school juniors and seniors in the Bay Area and the state of CA, who are academically gifted but financially challenged, get into college. He is currently serving as the Chair of the Governance Committee on the board of the GLOW Foundation.
- Current member of the board of the CISE Education Fund- a non-profit organization that helps fund students to get into college.
Sham recently joined Satellite Healthcare as their CIO, with oversight over the IT, Engineering and Security functions. He earlier served as the CIO of CallidusCloud for over 12 years, where he held varying responsibilities over corporate IT, SaaS Operations, Security & Compliance and Facilities organizations, worldwide. As a passionate strategic business partner, he enhanced business efficiencies through smart technology adoption in alignment with key business objectives. Specifically, he supported customer-facing SaaS operations and was able to improve customers’ performance from 50-300% while introducing processing predictability and reducing unplanned outages. Prior to CallidusCloud, Sham was the Head of IT for The 3DO Company where he led the IT function for the large developer and distributor of interactive gaming and entertainment software. Sham holds dual master’s degrees in Physics and Computer Science from the University of Bombay and Pace University, respectively.
